Vinni Lettieri is an American professional ice hockey centre who currently plays with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect for the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Anaheim Ducks. Lettieri committed to the University of Minnesota after two seasons with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. He played four seasons for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, helping them win the Big Ten regular season championship four times in a row.
Lettieri signed a two-year entry-level deal with the New York Rangers of the NHL on March 27, 2017. Before the 2017–18 season, he was invited to the Rangers training camp, but he was cut and sent to the Hartford Wolf Pack before the final roster was set. Lettieri spent the 2018–19 season splitting his time between the NHL and the AHL, eventually being called up for longer stints in the season’s second half. Lettieri ended the season with one goal and two assists. On March 25, 2019, he scored his first career goal at Madison Square Garden on a one-timer shot against the Pittsburgh Penguins. After four seasons with the Rangers, Lettieri became a free agent on October 10, 2020, and signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Anaheim Ducks.
Lou Nanne, Lettieri’s grandfather, was a Minnesota North Stars player, coach, and general manager. His father, Tino, was a professional soccer player, and his uncle, Marty Nanne, was drafted 161st overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks and spent three seasons in the International Hockey League (IHL). Tyler Nanne, drafted 142nd overall by the New York Rangers in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and Louis Nanne, drafted 188th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, are his cousins.
