A$AP Ferg is a rapper who found fame as one of the members of the legendary A$AP Mob hip-hop collective out of Harlem. Both solo and with the Mob, he has established himself as a major rap artist with top-ten Billboard albums such as Trap Lord, Always Strive and Prosper, and the Cozy Tapes Vols. 1 & 2. He was named Rookie of the Year at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards, and almost a decade later, he can boast hits like 2017’s ‘Plain Jane’, which has been streamed more than 1 billion times. On his most recent tracks, he’s worked with the likes of Pharrell and Chris Brown.
Ferg was born in New York City in October 1988. Inspired by his father’s success in clothing, he launched his own clothing and jewellery lines at a young age, beginning the influential Devoni Clothing line when he was just 16 years old. However, he then switched his aspirations to rapping, developing a tough, trap-style of delivery that soon saw him christened the ‘Trap Lord’. In 2008, he joined the recently formed A$AP Mob, which also included his old high-school friend, A$AP Rocky. He appeared on their debut mixtape in 2012 and remained with the organisation until the end of the decade.
In 2013, Ferg negotiated a solo record deal and unleashed his debut album, Trap Lord, which became rated as one of the hip-hop albums of the year and was certified gold. He has kept up a steady stream of successful releases ever since, the most recent of which includes the Floor Sears II mixtape that dropped in September 2020.
