Maryland born 23-year-old rapper Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly – better known as Rico Nasty – has powered through the rap world unapologetically since her early beginnings in 2014. Displaying her talents in genres ranging from trap to metal, Rico Nasty’s unique and self-created style is electric. Between 2014 and 2017 the young rapper self-released five mixtapes and gained a strong underground following with popular singles such as “iCarley” and “Hey Arnold”. The former of which amassed 500 thousand views in just a few weeks in 2016, when she began her dramatic rise to prominence. Her 2017 single “Poppin” saw her break 5 million views, quickly followed by “Smack a Bitch” which now holds 38 million views. Quickly gaining traction, she was signed to Atlantic in 2018, with whom she released her sixth mixtape Nasty with hit singles including “Bitch I’m Nasty” and “Countin Up”. This was followed by a six-week US tour in 27 different locations. This sensational rise then saw Rico Nasty power into one of her most successful mixtapes to date, Anger Management in 2019. Produced with Kenny Beats, the mixtape received acclaim from Rolling Stone, Billboard, NME and many others, resulting in performances at Coachella and across Europe. Rico Nasty’s most recent venture is her first studio album, Nightmare Vacation, which was released on December the 4th 2020. In it, she collaborates with Gucci Mane and solidifies her strong standing as a thriving and growing rapper. Her striking personality and formidable command of her music has made Rico Nasty one of the most unique rappers of her time, surprising critics and listeners at every twist and turn of her career.
