He began performing small Shakespearean roles at eight. After graduating from Commonwealth School in 1994 and attending Amherst College, Linklater built a strong foundation in stage acting and made his significant acting debut in the 2000 film “Groove.”
His career saw a steady progression with notable roles in television series such as “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (2006-2010), where he played Matthew Kimble, and “The Crazy Ones” (2013-2014) as Andrew Keanelly. Linklater also appeared in major films like “Fantastic Four” (2005) and “Battleship” (2012). A significant turn in his career came with his portrayal of Father Paul in the highly acclaimed Netflix horror miniseries “Midnight Mass” (2021), a role that garnered him critical praise and a Critics’ Choice nomination.
