Best known for his striking sense of humour, LA based Ian Karmel is an American stand-up comedian and writer who recently appeared on Netflix’ The Comedy Lineup, with his unforgettable 15 minute snippet. His commendable writing achievements include the 2018 and 2017 Grammys and most impressively, he is the current head writer for CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden. Karmel wrote for the 2016 and 2017 Tony Awards, the latter of which led to an Emmy nomination for ‘Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special’. He is a regular contributor to the Portland Mercury where he publishes a weekly column: Eveything as F*ck.
2014 was a memorable year for Karmel which showcased his late night debut on TBS’ Conan, as well as Adam DeVine’s House Party Season 2 on Comedy Central. The next year saw the release of his album 9.2 on Pitchfork under Kill Rock Stars, a Portland label. Other notable features include Portlandia and Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America.
In 2011 Karmel’s universal style led him to win the Funniest Person in Portland Award, subsequently providing him with the opportunity to perform at many festivals including the Moontower and Bridgetown Comedy Festivals. His hunger to entertain is insatiable and he is the co-creator of All Fantasy Everything, a podcast featured on the Headgum, an American podcasting network. Karmel can be found headlining in hotspots all over the US where he exhibiting his eclectic and enthralling style.
