Oscar Quintero is a multi-talented writer, producer, and performer best known for his alter ego, the fabulous and hilariously entertaining drag artist Kay Sedia. And Kay Sedia herself is regarded as a high fashion model, a detective, and the Tupperware lady from Tijuana!
Quintero was born and raised in a suburb of Los Angeles, and caught the acting bug when he was at elementary school. He joined the drama club at High School and took acting classes while at college. Then in 1999, he got his big break when he auditioned for a drag pageant fundraiser, Quest for the Crown, as his alter ego, Kay Sedia. He was named runner-up and from then on Kay Sedia became a firm fan favourite and in huge demand with local club promotors. He began to collaborate with Mr Dan, the owner of Dragstripp 66 and The Plush Life, a weekly drag improv soap opera that helped Quintero develop his sense of comedic timing. He then met Kurt Koehler and thus began another great collaborating partnership. In 2003 they created what was to become a big underground hit, Chico’s Angels, a Latin drag queen version of the popular 1970s TV show, Charlie’s Angels. Over the next five years, four original stage shows, Pretty Chicas All In A Row, Love Boat Chicas, Chicas In Chains, and Chicas Are 4Ever, played to sold out audiences. Quintero has also been in and out of drag in a number of short films, and TV shows, as well as in the feature films, Alien Game, Getting Lucky, and Au Pair Kansas.
Kay Sedia regularly connects with her legions of followers and fans through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, posting wacky pictures and videos of her performing life.
