Max Greenfield is an American actor who made a name for himself with roles in the likes of New Girl, Veronica Mars, and Ugly Betty. He has also appeared in major films such as The Big Short and What Men Want. His role as Schmidt in New Girl saw him nominated for a Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, and Critics’ Choice Television Award (all for Best Supporting Actor). He is currently playing Dave Johnson in CBS sitcom The Neighbourhood, which has now run for four seasons.
Greenfield embarked on an acting career as soon as he was out of high school. He began appearing in television shows such as Gilmore Girls and Boston Public during the early noughties and won his first recurring roles in critically acclaimed teen mystery drama Veronica Mars and WB sitcom Modern Men. He also played Nick Pepper in eight episodes of the hugely popular comedy-drama series Ugly Betty. In 2011, he got his major breakthrough when he was cast as Schmidt, one of the three male flatmates of star Zooey Deschanel in New Girl, a Fox sitcom that took the comedy world by storm in the early 2010s. The show ran for seven seasons and elevated Greenfield into the ranks of America’s multi-award-nominated comedy actors.
Since New Girl concluded in 2018, Greenfield has remained busy, with his co-starring role in The Neighbourhood just one of his many projects. He has also appeared in a miniseries, The Assassination of Gianni Versace and appeared in hit films such as What Men Want and Promising Young Woman, the latter of which was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture.
