American actor Nathan Lane has had numerous roles in major films, in Broadway musical shows, and as a voice actor for animations.
After brief stints doing stand up and working in New York City, Lane landed his first role in Off Broadway shows at venues such as the Roundabout Theatre and Manhattan Theatre Club. Broadway parts soon followed in shows Present Laughter and Merlin before his breakthrough role in Guys and Dolls launched his career with his Tony Award nominated performance. He starred in stage shows throughout the 1990’s, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Frogs, as well as landing roles in films such as The Birdcage. More films roles quickly followed, including in animations and CGI live action films such as The Lion King where he played lovable meerkat Timon and Stuart Little as the moody feline, Snowbell. Lane won an Olivier Award for his performance in London West End show The Producers in 2004 and a few years later won a Drama League Award for his role in the musical production of The Addams Family. He has also made countless appearances on television, in popular shows like Modern Family, The Good Wife and Absolutely Fabulous.
With a 45 year career behind him, Lane continues to be one of the busiest actors in Hollywood, with stage, film and television performances to his name. Most recently he has starred in TV show Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and Broadway production Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus.
