Jaden aka Jaden Smith is a rapper and young cultural icon whose life has inescapably been lived in the public eye for the most part. But, especially since his famed emancipation from his parents aged 15, he has more than set out his stall with a trio of well-received hip-hop albums: Syre, Erys, and CTV3: Cool Tape Vol. 3., all of which made the upper reaches of the Billboard 200. His tracks such as ‘Icon’ and ‘Summertime in Paris’ have been streamed hundreds of millions of times. He is also a major presence on social media, with over 27 million Instagram and Twitter followers. He has been acclaimed for his work in challenging gender stereotypes, in what he does, what he says, and what he wears.
Jaden first stepped into the public eye aged six when he co-starred with his father Will in the 2006 movie, The Pursuit of Happyness. The role won him an MTV Award for Best Breakthrough Performance, and he went on to appear in the likes of The Day the Earth Stood Still and Karate Kid. He has continued to intersperse his musical career with acting jobs, such as his appearance alongside Cara Delevingne in Life in a Year.
Jaden made his musical debut in 2010, rapping on ‘Never Say Never’, a single by superstar Justin Bieber that went quintuple-platinum in the States. He followed this with the release of his debut mixtape, The Cool Café. In 2017, he unleashed his debut album proper, Syre, through Roc Nation. Since then, he has become increasingly focused on his music, touring with the likes of Post Malone, Tyler the Creator, and J. Cole.
