Fontaines D.C. is an acclaimed Irish post-punk band formed in Dublin in 2014, consisting of Grian Chatten (vocals), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan III (bass), Tom Coll (drums), and Carlos O’Connell (guitar). The band members met at music college, where they bonded over their shared passion for poetry. They began their journey by self-releasing singles and performing live, which led to their signing with Partisan Records in 2018. Their debut album, “Dogrel,” released on April 12, 2019, received widespread critical acclaim, being named Album of the Year by Rough Trade and nominated for prestigious awards like the Mercury Prize.
Following the success of their debut, Fontaines D.C. released their second studio album, “A Hero’s Death,” on July 31, 2020. This album was notable for its introspective themes and was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards. The band continued to build on their momentum with their third album, “Skinty Fia,” released in April 2022, which topped both the Irish and UK Albums Charts and earned them a Brit Award for International Group.
In 2024, Fontaines D.C. released their fourth album, “Romance,” which debuted at No. 2 in the UK and marked their first entry on the Billboard 200 in the United States. The album was well-received, doubling the first-week sales of their previous release and showcasing their evolution as artists. The singles from this album also charted successfully, further solidifying their place in the contemporary music scene.
