Wolfmother is an acclaimed Australian hard rock band formed in 2004, primarily driven by the creative vision of lead vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale. The band quickly gained recognition with their self-titled debut album released in 2005, which reached number 3 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. Their hit single “Woman” won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance, solidifying their place in the rock music landscape.
Following the departure of founding members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett in 2008, Stockdale revitalized Wolfmother with a new lineup, releasing the successful album “Cosmic Egg” in 2009. This album showcased Stockdale’s ability to blend classic rock influences with modern sounds, further establishing the band’s reputation. The subsequent tours, including supporting AC/DC, highlighted their dynamic live performances and solidified their fan base.
In 2013, Stockdale embarked on a solo project with the album “Keep Moving,” demonstrating his versatility as an artist. However, he soon returned to the Wolfmother name, releasing “New Crown” in 2014 and the critically acclaimed “Victorious” in 2016. These albums showcased his continued evolution as a songwriter and producer, with “Victorious” reaching notable chart positions.
Most recently, Wolfmother has continued to thrive with the release of “Rock’n’Roll Baby” in 2019 and “Rock Out” in 2021. Stockdale’s commitment to innovation and his ability to adapt to changing musical landscapes ensure that Wolfmother remains a prominent force in the hard rock genre.
