Lacuna Coil, a pioneering Italian gothic metal band from Milan, has been a significant force in the metal scene since their formation in 1994. Originally known as Sleep of Right and later Ethereal, the band has evolved both musically and professionally, amassing a substantial discography that includes nine studio albums, two EPs, and multiple live and compilation albums. Their unique blend of gothic and alternative metal has garnered them a dedicated following and critical acclaim.

The band’s lineup has remained relatively stable, featuring Andrea Ferro on vocals, Marco Coti Zelati on bass and keyboards, Cristina Scabbia on vocals, and Richard Meiz on drums, who joined in 2019. Over the years, Lacuna Coil has achieved notable milestones, including a nomination for the MTV Europe Music Award in 2006 and winning the Metal Female Voices Fest Award for Best Album in 2012. Their 2012 album, Dark Adrenaline, reached number 15 on the Billboard 200, highlighting their impact on the international stage. As of March 2012, they have sold over two million albums worldwide.

The band’s accolades include the Metal Hammer Award for Best International Band in 2016 and the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best Live Act in 2018. Their extensive touring has solidified their reputation as an exceptional live act, and they continue to innovate and captivate audiences.

In April 2023, Lacuna Coil made a notable foray into the gaming world by contributing a new song, “Never Dawn,” to the board game Zombicide: White Death. This marks their first involvement in a board game project, showcasing their versatility and expanding their creative horizons.

Looking ahead, Lacuna Coil is set to release their latest single, “In the Mean Time,” on April 19, 2024, featuring Ash Costello of New Years Day. They have also announced an upcoming tour in the UK and Ireland, “In the Meantime,” scheduled for October 2024, with Finnish band Blind Channel as support. This tour promises to further cement their status as one of the genre’s most enduring and dynamic acts.
