South Korean boy band B1A4 are a global music phenomenon, known for their R&B infused dance pop, hit records, and many television appearances. Immensely successful in both South Korea and Japan, the group have received dozens of awards and nominations, including twice winning the main Bonsang Award at the Seoul Music Awards.
Launched as a five-piece consisting of CNU, Baro, Gongchan, Sandeul and Jinyoung, B1A4 were brought together by WM Entertainment and first introduced to the public via a webtoon in 2011. They later debuted with the EP Let’s Fly, which hit the Top 10 in South Korea, and spawned the popular singles O.K. and Only Learned Bad Things. Over the following months they appeared on shows including MBC’s Show! Music Core, Mnet’s M! Countdown and MTV’s Match Up, and went on to win Best Newcomer awards at the Golden Disc Awards, the Seoul Music Awards, the Asia Song Festival and the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.
B1A4’s first full-length Korean album, Ignition, was released in 2012, and their first Japanese-language album, 1, was released that same year. The albums recorded impressive sales and quickly helped cement the group’s international stardom. The group have since released a further six EPs, two Korean and four Japanese studio albums, many of which have been chart-toppers, and their hit singles have included Beautiful Target, Lonely, Solo Day, and the immensely popular Baby Good Night. The group have toured extensively, including to the United States, and have starred in shows including B1A4’s Hello Baby, B1A4’s One Fine Day, and A Song for You.
