Lazaro Casanova is a Brooklyn art school dropout turned full time producer, DJ, and petFood label owner.
Hailing from Miami, he has anchored himself to a forward thinking electronic sound that borrows a rare good feeling from the classic music of days gone by.
Lazaro is often found high up in the Beatport charts, most recently with ‘LoFi Love Songs’ on his own label, which picked up support from the likes of Culprit’s Droog, Leftroom boss Matt Tolfrey and Oscar G. As a remixer, too, Lazaro is in much demand reworking the likes of Maya Jane Coles on 1Trax, Lee Burridge on Leftroom, Juan McLean on DFA and of course Oscar G on Nervous, a label that releases much of Lazaro’s material alongside others like Get Physical, Culprit, Leftroom and more.
As well as running his label, beat making and DJing around both Americas and Europe at places like the WMC, and Electric Pickle, so too does Lazaro run his own weekly radio show called Jack’s House. Airing on wynwoodradio.com each Monday, the show is a fine mix of classic house and chat with big names in the game like Culprit and Droog.
As for the future, it looks just as bright for the musicophile, with a new EP soon to land on his own label along with a specially made video. Matt Tolfrey and Jacques Renault have ben playing it for a while and even wanted it for their own label, but Lazaro is keen to build his own empire with petFood and is going the right way about it with his unique house sound.
